Who says you can't have a home that is the height of style despite a lackluster bank account? Not, Andrea Evans, designer and owner of In the Pink Boutique, a hip new Internet home decor venue that is as charming and trendy as any boutique  you'll find in Chicago's toniest suburbs whether it be Hinsdale, Naperville or even downtown.

Believe it or not there are several easy and inexpensive things people can do to redecorate their homes without spending a fortune, but making it look like they did. Evans, design expert and owner of In The Pink, has some tips on how to decorate cheap while still being able to pull off that oh so chic look.

1. Use deep wall colors that juxtapose light-hue furniture. Changing the color of your walls is the most inexpensive, yet most dramatic way to change a room. Light colored furniture against a saturated wall color creates a punchy focal point.  Think of reds, purples, or oranges instead of the expected neutral colors such as beiges, topes, and whites.  Even simply painting an accent wall gives vibrancy to an otherwise subdued room.

2. Add Shimmer and Glimmer with small accessories. For example, throw a shimmery pillow in a bedroom or living room.  Embellishments of glass, mirrors, crystals, and metallics add splendor and distinguish to accessories and furniture.

3. Decorating with texture is an affordable way to replace decorations as your tastes change. Nubby throw pillows, furry rugs, and classic patterns add zing to any room.

4. Create drama with new curtains. Purchase long curtains and instead of having them start from the top of the window, start from the top of the wall. Then, pull them open to the windows edge for a dramatic look. Adding decorative tie-backs also helps to enhance the elegance of the curtains.

5. Make a room smell great. Candles create ambiance in a room. Many candles now come in pretty jars that can double as a decoration. Also, add a sense of flair to the room by changing out white taper and pillar candles with colorful ones. This creates a whole new decorating by simply changing the color.
With a charming and successful retail store serving the upscale areas of the Biltmore, Arcadia, and Paradise Valley in Arizona,  Evans is a dedicated interior designer, who shares her passion for collectibles, gifts, jewelry and home furnishings with her discerning longtime customers as well as visitors from all over the world.
