How to Clean a House Quick
Cleaning a house in a hurry takes a little sense of humor and a willingness to sweat. Some people need the deadline of a guest coming to visit or a husband saying, "I'm on my way home," to motivate them to pull out the broom and mop.

The key to cleaning a house quick - in less than 30 minutes -- is a simple game plan. You may also need a few basic cleaning supplies and a lot of caffeine.
Before getting started, get hyped up on caffeine and possibly sugar.
Place an empty plastic grocery bag around your wrist so that you can throw away miscellaneous little pieces of trash as you go room to room on various cleaning missions. Put a bunch of empty small garbage bags in your pocket to replace in trash cans later.

You may also want to get out your various cleaning supplies and place on table for easy access. For quick cleaning, I recommend disposable Windex and Lysol cleaning wipes (especially the kind with a rough surface on one side) and leather furniture wipes.

Here are the five easy steps to tidying up a house in a hurry:

No. 1: The first thing to tackle the dishes. Dishes are sometimes scattered throughout the house - especially if you have children or teenagers. Quickly - and I mean quickly - go from room to room picking up all dishes in sight. You may pick up any little trash items along the way. Rinse all dishes and put in dishwasher and start dishwasher. This step should take three minutes.

No. 2: Tackle the clothing. In a perfect world, the dirty clothing will be waiting for you in the laundry baskets in each bedroom. But in reality you probably have children or husbands who leave their boxers in the bathroom or socks under the bed. Again, very quickly sweep through the house with a laundry basket under your arm. Gather any and all dirty clothing. Hang up clean clothes quickly. Either leave the dirty clothing in the basket in the laundry room or begin the loads if you have time. Pick up hats etc and put in closet or where they belong. This step should take about four minutes.

No. 3: While your dishes and clothes are in the machines, shift to floors. Sweep and vaccuum. With my wood floors I sweep and then use the no-purfume wood spray with a dry mop that can be put in the washer once dirty and re-used. You may also use this time to pick up dirty rugs in the bathroom and add those to the dirty laundry piles. (But that is usually reserved for a deeper cleaning day when you are not in a hurry). This step should take 8 minutes.

No. 4: Get out the dusting spray and disposable dusting clothes and wipe down obvious items. Use the disposable wipes for leather on any leather furniture and the disinfecting wipes for counters in kitchen and bathroom as well as the toilet, showers. Quickly squirt the bathroom bowl cleaner into the bowls and continue on to other tasks. Use glass wipes on mirrors and other noticeable windows. During this step, pick up trash (including your dirty cleaning wipes) from all the trash cans in the house and replace with fresh bags. This step should take 8 minutes.

No. 5: Straighten up books, papers. Throw away obvious trash clutter such as old receipts or coupons. If you aren't sure if someone else in the family needs a certain paper, add it to a large plastic zip lock bag with their name on it for later. Throw children's toys in the bins or toy chests. This step should take 7 minutes.
Once you are finished you should not see any clothing, dishes, toys or trash items laying around. You should see clean and swept floors. The bathrooms should be clean and fresh smelling.

As a final last touch, you may want to light a pleasant smelling candle. This entire five step quick cleaning process should only take 30 minutes. If it takes you longer, you aren't picking up the pace and should double the caffeine in the future.
